SFACCA participates in programs that strengthen the skills of technicians who install, service, and maintain air-conditioning and heating equipment. This effort combines the talents and resources of manufacturers, contractors, wholesalers, and educators, among others in an ongoing program to upgrade technician competency.

In addition to quality education, SFACCA is also concerned with ensuring that enough students enter the HVACR industry as technicians to properly maintain the equipment.
Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanics install, maintain, repair and overhaul industrial, commercial and residential refrigeration and air conditioning systems and their component parts. Their duties include working from blueprints or verbal instructions to mount or place system components; assembling and installing refrigeration or air conditioning components, such as compressors, condensers, evaporators and metering devices; and fixing problems in the unit by replacing or repairing controls, electric wiring or other parts.
